Doors generally ...
Doors generally have standard dimensions. Door height is usually 80" and usually 36" for an outside door. Storm doors are made to fit the openings. Doors with sidelights installed as a single unit present a? problem. The existing jamb on hinge side is flush with the outside face of the door frame, but the latch side is 2 1/8" inside the outside of the door frame. I use 2 pieces of brick mold with the boss trimmed off to shim it out. Is there a better way?

wow they? actually explained it pretty well but i've never had to cut a frame and I work on other peoples houses. Usually we're using the frame expanders. I'd recommend a wunderbar

yeah I'm just learning how to do it myself with a Lowers contractor. Really, installing a storm door should only take 1 hour if you have all your tools handy and know what you're doing. There are variations to each house which can? make it take longer or pose a problem, but really... yeah it sounds like you got stuck with knuckle heads.
